Sadly, Brigid passed away on 10th Feb 2024. Brigid was born in December 1943 in London. In her childhood her family moved to Wraysbury, near Windsor and then to Aran Island, off the north west coast of Ireland where other family members live. Brigid married James in 1964. She had at least six professions (film editing, playing the double bass, pottery, antique dealer, a cook and music producer). Many of us in the village will have known her for her quick, sharp wit and friendliness. She was wholeheartedly involved in all village events and was a regular, and vocal, attendee on the Millennium Committee, Access Group and any other group that sprung up from time to time. Personally I will always remember her support and encouragement for any idea for activities that brought the village together. One photo below shows Brigid helping the ladies tug-o-war team in the Calstone Olympics in July 2007. The other shows her in the back of the trailer travelling around the village Carol singing in 2004. A celebration for Brigid’s life was held at North Wiltshire Crematorium on 7th March followed by refreshments at Wellington Barn, which included wonderful Irish folk singing by her cousin and James playing the tin whistle.
